Buller Health Centre has a 24-hour acute care service for critical or life-threatening injuries or illnesses.

The acute care team will stabilise you and decide if you need to be transferred somewhere else for further treatment and care.

After hours rural primary care service

Ka Ora Telecare provides free health advice and treatment on weeknights (5pm to 8am) and 24 hours a day on weekends and public holidays.

The Ka Ora team will refer you to the in-person service available in your area if you need it.

Transport options

Hato Hone St John health shuttle

The Hato Hone St John health shuttle is a community service that transports people to and from medical and health related appointments.

The service is run by volunteers. A donation is greatly appreciated to help cover costs.

The shuttles operate Monday to Friday and bookings need be made by 3pm the day before your appointment. 

The shuttle route is from Westport to Greymouth (through Reefton, if requested and available).

Buller Taxis runs a free medical shuttle to Greymouth and Nelson. Book at least 24 hours before your appointment.
