Bus driver's family acknowledges support
The family of Hamilton bus driver Ross McSheffrey, 52, today publicly acknowledged all those who helped at Waikato Hospital yesterday after he was trapped under his bus outside the hospital’s carpark building.
His wife Trish McSheffrey said she had personally spoken to a number of people who were quickly on the scene. That included two contractors and Waikato DHB staff who helped lift the bus so her husband had access to oxygen before the arrival of the Fire Service and Police.
She also paid tribute to the medical staff at Waikato Hospital’s intensive care unit where her husband’s condition is critical but stable.
The support from friends and family had been overwhelming, she said.
Mrs McSheffrey said Ross had a long recovery period ahead of him and while she was grateful for the media’s concern and interest, she was in no position to give any interviews at this time.
